Neutrals Don’t Have to Mean Boring!

While it is true that the current trend is leading towards the use of more colors in your homes, bright, bold colors aren’t for everyone. And, like we always say, it is very important to remain true to your style – don’t just follow trends to follow trends.

That being said, our designers have a few insider tricks to using a more neutral palette while still livening it up to make a memorable room. This way, you can have a living space that wows, while still feeling comfortable and reflecting your taste.

Neutral Colors: Shades of Beige, Brown, Ivory, Taupe, Black, Grey, and White.

You have a few options when it comes to making your neutrals pop! Not all of them may be your cup of tea, but at least one of these tricks should strike your fancy.

Creative Colors

One of the easiest ways to bring life to an otherwise boring room is to add pops of color. Pick a color you are comfortable with and sprinkle it throughout your room. Artwork, a rug, a cabinet, pillows, or tchotchkes all serve as great pieces to bring in color. Don’t be afraid to be creative.

Marvelous Metallics

If your goal is to take a neutral space and turn it into a memorable room with a chic, elegant look, you can simply bring in metallic pieces. This is a great option for those who don’t love the ideas of standout colors. You would be surprised what an ornate, metallic mirror frame can do!

Pretty Patterns

If you are a bit more adventurous, you can bring in a striking, patterned piece to spice things up. A zebra print chair in an otherwise brown and beige room will really give you purposeful pop! Make sure the color of the print is different than the rest of the room, it can be neutral, though.

Distressed Detail

If you want to give a unique look to your room without drawing too much attention to any specific focal point, you can incorporate distressed furniture pieces throughout the room. This little detail can give a much needed textural feel to your room and not break your chosen neutral palette.

Colorful rooms may be the trend, but it doesn’t mean you have to follow it. If you are more comfortable working in neutrals, just stick to one of the tips suggested, and you will have a room that looks put together and is memorable.
